Trends Relating To Botox

By Ariel Mernal

People today know that botox injection procedures are fast and easy, and make the skin look more youthful. Wrinkles and fine lines in the face become quite a big concern for ageing people, so many of them are utilizing the latest advances in cosmetic treatments, and that means getting botox injections. What was once probably thought to be a procedure whose novelty might wear off one day is nowadays considered to be one that is here to stay.

There are sections in newspapers and magazines and segments on television that are dedicated to celebrities that have had botox in order to make their skin look more youthful. A lot of people are wondering why this has become so increasingly mainstream in recent years.

Well, the answer is simple really. People realize that botox is low-cost, and works well to make the skin look younger. Unlike plastic surgery, there are no scars after the procedure, it's low-cost, and it takes only a few minutes to have done. More and more people have realized this now, thanks to all the publicity botox treatments receive through celebrity use.

What about Botox for Men?

There is a common misconception that botox injections are sought after by women and women alone. The facts show something else, entirely. Granted that majority of the people who undergo botox injections are women, these days' even men are undergoing these procedures. Media outlets have come up with a term for this, and 'bro-tox' seems to fit the bill. It's even about 50/50 men and women in certain clinics that administer botox treatments.

Trends are changing

The use of botox is rising. It is estimated that the number of men and women who underwent botox injection rose from 2010 to 2011 by around 5% - that's a rise from 5.4 million to 5.7 million people. There are those who say that the number is more accurately about 10% per year that it rises. Most people see these numbers and are not surprised by them. There used to be those in society that looked down upon people who have botox treatments, and it was thought to only be done by the richest people, but this is no longer the case, and it is becoming widely accepted by people of all classes and economic situations. As time goes by, more and more people see this as an acceptable treatment method.

That is only part of the story. Not only are botox treatments used to help those who have cosmetic issues, they are used for muscle spasticity disorders as well. Some of these conditions include blepharospasm, spastic paraparesis and cerebral palsy in both children and adults. Results have been promising and outcomes have been excellent. Botox injections can be used to treat excessive sweating, and some have found success in using scalp injections to help to treat migraine headaches.

There is no doubt that the future is bright for botox. There are always new studies being done and improvements being made, and the benefits of these treatments seem to be growing in number all the time.
