A Guide to Injectable Fillers

By Andy Baromm

Injectable fillers have become a popular treatment because they are minimally invasive. A quick, relatively painless treatment every 6-12 months can keep you looking youthful without a major surgery.Because of the growing acceptance and popularity of these products, my patients have become more aware of the options.

Laugh lines

The most common area that soft tissue fillers are used to treat are laugh or smile lines. If you decide to treat the marionette lines or if your lines are particularly deep, more may be needed, but most laugh lines soften considerably with one to two syringes of filler.

Since there are a number of available fillers for fine and deep wrinkles, both may be used in the same patient. By layering them in the same areas, physicians are able to plump the folds and fill the lines that are often lying in the depths of those folds. In minutes, they can be given with a tiny needle, filling wrinkles like laugh lines and adding definition to the lips. The results, which last 6-9 months, are instantaneous, producing a natural enhancement that is safe to the skin and gentle. You can get back to normal activities in a few hours.

Lips

The last place women want to lose volume is in their lips. For many people a fuller and more sensuous mouth comes high on their wish list. Our lips start to become thinner from our late twenties, with fine lines eventually appearing around the mouth. With a small injection of natural hyaluronic filler, you can give your lips their former glory. Whether it's to add lost volume or just to redefine the lip contours you will be impressed by the instant results with lip filler procedures. You can decide how subtle or obvious you want your new lips to appear.

Cheeks

Volume lost from your cheeks shows your age dramatically. Cheek Augmentation using dermal fillers is an inexpensive way of creating a youthful look without resorting to invasive surgery.

Older skin may begin to lose its elasticity and plumpness over time. This eventually leads to a loss of shape and definition in the face, caused by sagging in the area around the cheek and jaw. Where our cheekbones were once round and prominent they may now appear somewhat sallow and flat, causing an overall ageing effect to our appearance. Cheek augmentation helps to re-define the shape of your face, filling and lifting the cheek areas as well as tightening the surrounding skin to create a much more balanced face shape. An overly angular face can have volume added, giving hollow cheeks and temples a softer shape.
